GCSCC Clothes Closet Available For
Seniors Notice: New Hours for Clothes Closet
The
Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center maintains a clothes closet especially
for senior citizens. If you are a senior citizen and in need of clothes for
your wardrobe we are certain our gracious and hospitable Clothes Closet
Volunteer, Shirley will gladly assist you. The
clothes closet is available on Mondays from 11:00 AM – 11:30 AM instead of Wednesday’s effective Monday, May 5th 2008 through
October 2008. To inquire about

Monday Night Line Dancing Classes
offered at the GCSCC

Walters instructs Line Dancing Classes on Monday evenings at the Guernsey
County Senior Citizens Center. The beginner’s class is held at 5:30 PM, and the
regular class starts at 6:00 PM. If you are interested in line dancing this is
the class for you! The cost of the class is by donation. For additional

Weekly Blood Pressure & Health
Checks At GCSCC
The
Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center offers Blood Pressure, Pulse and Weight
Checks on Wednesday’s from 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM. Health Screenings are
provided by local trained and state certified health care professionals and
community partners. We encourage seniors to utilize this beneficial health
service program, which is also easily accessible and convienient. Routine
health check-ups are available, walk-ins and no prior appointments are
necessary! This is a great way to keep yourself healthy and improve your
overall well-being. Donations / Clint Share contributions are welcomed &

Mother’s Day “Cameo” Luncheon

The
Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center cordially invites you to attend our
annual Mothers Day Luncheon on Friday
May 9th, 2008 at 11:00 AM. In celebration of Mother’s Day we’re
encouraging all mom’s, adopted mother’s, and mother figures-in-our lives to
please join us in sharing a photo or special story about a favorite Cameo or
necklace perhaps your mother gave to you and why it may be special to you. This
special luncheon will begin at 11:00 AM and lunch will be served at 11:30 AM.
The luncheon menu will include; Breaded Chicken Breast, Buttered Potatoes, Baby
Glazed Carrots, Strawberry Glazed Bananas, Dinner Roll & Butter,

Food Commodity Pick- Up Friday May 16th

Supplemental Food Commodity Distribution will be Friday May, 16th
2008 at the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM.
It’s very important to pick up your commodities on the scheduled date, as our
storage is limited. If you are unable to pick-up your commodities on time we
ask that you please notify the GCSCC at (740) 439-6681 to make alternate
arrangements. Friendly Reminder: if
you do not pick up your food commodities two consecutive times you may be taken
off the program. If at anytime you decide you don’t need or don’t want to
continue participating in the food commodity program, please call Sue

The
Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center will offer Blood Pressure & Health
Checks at Golden Sixties in Byesville on Thursday, May 29th from
10:00 AM -10:30 AM. If you would like to have your Blood Pressure checked
please stop by and see our nurse Sharman Milligan and she will be glad to
assist you!

Each
year for the last seven years Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center Executive
Director, Shon Gress has treated our daily visitors to a “surprise treat”
during Older Americans Month. Because it
is a “surprise” seniors will not know exactly when they will be treated to a
surprise treat…so—you will just have to visit us everyday here at the Guernsey
County Senior Citizens Center or at our Byesville Satellite Site throughout the
month of May to discover exactly what & when your special treat will be! One
thing is for certain though...during the month of May in celebration of “Older Americans Month…when you least expect it
…we will graciously and willingly share a special treat with every senior who attends or
visits the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center on that particular day! It’s
just our way of saying “thank you” to the many senior citizens who visit us

Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center offers supplemental nutritional beverage
shakes which can assist in sustaining your nutritional well-being, especially
among cancer patients who find it difficult to digest and “keep down” regular
foods. Each comes in three great flavors, Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry. A
case of Ensure cost’s $20.00 per case for regular, and $22.00 for the
plus. Diabetic Glucerna cost $38.00 per

Transportation Services Available for
Senior Citizens
Donations are Welcomed & Appreciated
The
Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center provides prompt, courteous and economical
senior transportation services on a “donation only “ basis to senior citizens
age 60 and older, who require transportation to and from medical appointments;
to pick up prescriptions; to and from congregate sites including the senior
citizens center and prioritized locations throughout the county. We please ask
that all customers utilizing our transportation services please remember our
transportation department when making daily or routine donations and
contributions to the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center. We please ask for your personal
understanding and support while we strive to continue providing much needed
services for older adults and operate a cost efficient transportation program. Recommended transportation donations are
$2.00 per trip. We sincerely appreciate your generosity. Donations can be made
payable to the Senior Transportation Department to help with the costs and
expenses associated with financially sustaining this important and much utilized
program. Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center’s Transportation Department is
dedicated to transporting & serving seniors living throughout all of

We are collecting all unused (and those that might be stored away) pennies that
you don’t mind sharing & donating to assist us with financing a special

Home Delivered Meals Available for
This
spring let us do your personal cooking and meal preparation for you! If you are
60 years of age or older, living in Guernsey County and/are experiencing
difficulty with preparing or cooking your own meals and /or are interested in
receiving a home delivered meal, please call (740) 439-5717 or toll-free at
1-866-534-2349.Our kind and courteous associates will come and visit with you (in
the comfort of your own home) to conduct a brief in-home assessment of your nutritional
needs to determine your personal dietary needs and overall program eligibility.
Program Eligibility is not based on your
income. Home Delivered Meals are
intended for those with moderate to severe nutritional needs; have difficulty
cooking or preparing their own meals; and are physically unable or have limited
means of sustaining their individual nutritional health & well-being. To arrange for hot nutritious,
well-balanced meals to be delivered directly to the comfort of your own home
anywhere in Guernsey County, please contact the Guernsey County Senior Citizens
Center’s Nutrition Department and ask about receiving Home Delivered “Meals on
Wheels” in your home. Meals are provided on a “donation only” basis to senior
citizens age 60 and older. Recommended donation is $2.50 per meal per day.
Also, senior citizens will not be denied a meal based on their ability or
